The question this tracker follows

Is Denmark building the capacity to study and improve its own research system, and does that work reach the structural problems?

Denmark has strong pieces: a research centre that studies the system, a policy council, funders willing to experiment and a lively public debate. What it lacks is a shared picture of the whole system across public and private funders, and a place where the pieces meet.

Where it stands

My reading

Denmark has the parts of a strong metascience system, but nobody sees the whole. Analysis, experiments and debate happen in separate places, and the largest share of new money comes from foundations whose data are not pooled with public funding.

The next step is shared infrastructure and a forum with a mandate, so that experiments, reforms and new institutions add up. The Structural Problems Register collects the Danish evidence by problem.
